Last week Leonardo demonstrated the AW159 Wildcat to the Malaysian military at RMN Base Lumut. The two Wildcats, from the UK’s 847 Naval Air Squadron, are part of the French Navy’s five-month amphibious deployment to the Middle East, Asia and the South Pacific under Exercise Jeanne d’Arc.

They are temporarily embarked on the helicopter assault ship FS Dixmude to provide a battlefield reconnaissance capability.

There is a requirement by the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), with the company believing the AW159 is a suitable choice for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW) missions currently being conducted by its six Super Lynx 300 helicopters.
