DSA 2018: Arnold Defense offering new rocket launcher
US-based Arnold Defense showcased its new LWL-12-A lightweight rocket launcher for light armed helicopters at this week’s DSA 2018 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.
In the past, light helicopters were forced to carry the seven-tube rocket configuration, such as Arnold’s 15.9kg M260, due to weight issues. Now Arnold is offering a launcher weighing 28.6kg, but capable of carrying twelve 70mm rockets.
In the past, lightweight helicopters like the Bell 407 and Boeing AH-6 ‘Little Bird’ were unable to carry larger rocket loads due to weight issues, but now that they have been equipped with more powerful engines and the lighter configuration
