D&S 2019: No resolution in sight for Malaysian MD 530G saga

Malaysia’s MoD issued a press statement on 1 November stating that delivery of six MD 530G helicopters had been delayed as a result of various technical issues connected to the OEM, presumably MD Helicopters.

The MYR321 million ($76.1 4 million) contract for six helicopters was awarded to Halaman Optima, the then Malaysian agent for MD Helicopters, in 2016. It was subsequently bought over by Destini Berhad. It remains unclear as to whether MD Helicopters’ contractual obligations lie with its agent or the government.

MD Helicopters had yet to response to Shephard’s queries at press time.
