DefExpo 2016: HAL LUH to fly soon

A new helicopter emerging from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) hangar is the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), and it is expected to perform its maiden flight in May.

Originally this first flight was supposed to occur last December, so this represents a six-month delay to date. One prototype of this 3,150kg helicopter has been made and it has already undergone ground trials, related M. Tamilselvan, manager of marketing at HAL.

A total of 187 LUHs are currently planned to equip the three armed services plus the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). However, Tamilselvan was confident future orders for up to 700 examples
