Defense Services Asia: Russia advances Malaysia connection

Rosoboronexport courted the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) with tanks, attack helicopters, boats, and medium and short-range air-defence systems at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) exhibition in Kuala Lumpur this week.

Speaking to Shephard at the show, a Rosoboronexport source said Russia and Malaysia ‘understood’ each other very well, as the MAF have a long history and familiarity with Russian armaments.

Rosoboronexport representatives met with officials from Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia, China and Sri Lanka, and were specifically promoting the modernised T-90S main battle tank (MBT), the YAK-130 combat trainer aircraft, the Mi-28NE and Ka-52 helicopters, as well as the Amur-1650
