Croatian Police order AW139 helicopter
The Croatian Police has ordered one AgustaWestland AW139 intermediate twin-turbine helicopter for border and maritime patrol operations, the company announced on 18 February.
This will be the first AW139 in the country, and it will replace an older model after it was chosen in a competitive tender. The order is co-financed with the EU internal security funds 2014/2020.
The AW139 configuration ordered by the police includes a high definition latest generation FLIR turret, HD video link system, searchlight, rescue hoist and a cabin mission console. It will be used mainly for border control operations and maritime tasks.
The contract also has a major training package, including the licensing of six pilots and 13 technicians.
A number of law enforcement and border security agencies in countries worldwide have selected and started operating the AW139. These countries include the US, Japan, Bulgaria, South Korea, the Netherlands, Oman, UAE and China.
