CPI Aerostructures has received purchase orders totalling approximately $8 million from Sikorsky to supply Hover Infrared Suppression System (HIRSS) module assemblies for the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, the company announced on 1 October.

The HIRSS is a defensive countermeasures system that reduces the opportunity for an infrared-seeking threat system to acquire, lock onto, track and destroy the helicopter.

The HIRSS will be used as spares on older variants of the UH-60 Black Hawk.
