Sikorsky has secured its position in South America through a recent offshore and utility type certification for a series of the company’s rotorcraft.

The certification for the S-76C, including the C, C+, C++ versions, the S-76D and S-92A means that the country’s commercial operators of the respective platforms can now transport crew or cargo offshore, as well as conducting regional airline passenger service and VIP transportation.

The approval from Colombia’s civil aviation authority, Unidad Administrativa Especial de Aeronáutica Civil means the opening up of commercial helicopters to the country’s market.

The country’s army already operates Black Hawks with 52 UH-60L models
