Columbia Helicopters prepares CH-47Ds for Morocco

Oregon-based Columbia Helicopters is reworking three ex-US Army CH-47D Chinook helicopters for Morocco under a $6 million US Department of Defense Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract

The first example, 89-0149, arrived at the company’s new Military Maintenance Facility at Aurora State Airport in Oregon on 11 August. It was followed by the second and third examples over the next two days.

Morocco had been seeking three CH-47Ds to boost its depleted fleet of CH-47C variants for some years, and the latter were all grounded by late 2013.  

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency had notified Congress in October 2009
