Colombia and Thailand request Black Hawks
The governments of Colombia and Thailand have requested to buy Black Hawk helicopters and associated parts and equipment, it has emerged.
Information released by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) shows that Colombia wishes to buy five UH-60Ls in a deal worth up to $87 million, while Thailand wants to acquire four UH-60M models in a deal worth up to $235 million.
The latter deal includes ten T700-GE-701D engines, warranties, support equipment, spare and repair parts, personnel training and training equipment, publications and technical data, US government and contractor technical assistance, plus other related logistics support.
Colombia, which is already an established operator of the type, is also buying ten engines as well as parts, training and logistical support.
The DSCA said 'the government of Thailand intends to use the UH-60s to modernise its armed forces’, adding that the order would 'improve the security of a friendly country which has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in South-East Asia’.
