Cobras slither into the Philippines

On 26 November a pair of AH-1S Cobra helicopters arrived aboard a transport aircraft at Clark Air Base in the Philippines, these having been donated by Jordan to the Philippine Air Force (PAF).

The two aircraft, painted in a plain light grey camouflage scheme, bore the serial numbers 1023 and 1027. That identifies them as being former Israeli AH-1S Tzefa attack helicopters modified to allow firing of Spike-ER missiles. Israel retired them in 2013 and transferred them to Jordan the following year.

After reassembly, the second-hand helicopters will be operated by the PAF’s 15th Strike Wing.
