Cobham to support ETPS, RWTES
Cobham Helicopter Services has received a £2 million contract from QinetiQ to provide helicopter support to the UK's Empire Test Pilots' School (ETPS) and Rotary Wing Test and Evaluation Squadron (RWTES), Cobham announced on 2 June.
Cobham will provide a Bell 412 HAR2 twin-engine utility helicopter, aircrew training and supporting maintenance personnel to be based at the aircraft testing site, MoD Boscombe Down, in Wiltshire, England.
The contract, which began in May 2016, will run for 18 months.
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and QinetiQ jointly operate the RWTES and ETPS under a long-term partnering agreement.
Peter Nottage, sector president, Cobham Aviation Services, said: 'We are delighted to win this new contract with QinetiQ to support both ETPS and RWTES. The helicopter will be operated on the military register and the contract is evidence of our considerable experience of delivering military registered contractor owned aircraft (MRCOA) under long term performance based contracts. We look forward to working with QinetiQ to deliver these services.'
