CHF probes refuelling concept

Lt Col Will Penkman, commanding officer of 846 Naval Air Squadron, said that the Royal Navy’s Commando Helicopter Force (CHF) would like to have an air-to-air refuelling capability on its Leonardo Merlin helicopters, he said at the IQPC International Military Helicopter Conference in London.

Furthermore, images recently shared on social media by the Cdr Bob Bond, CO of the CHF’s 845 NAS, have shown an inflight refuelling probe fitted on a Merlin Mk 3. Probes were occasionally fitted on Royal Air Force Merlin HC1s, but never used in practice.
