Canadian CH-147F Chinook training facility opens
The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and Boeing have opened a new training facility for the new CH-147F Chinook helicopter fleet, the company announced on 15 April.
The new Medium-to-Heavy Lift Helicopters (MHLH) maintenance training centre is located at Garrison Petawawa, Ontario. It has started training maintenance personnel for the CH-147F fleet of the RCAF, and the first batch of 18 technicians have already graduated from the centre's RCAF-led training courses.
Tony Barnett, project manager, Canadian MHLH training systems, Boeing, said: 'Boeing’s training suite equips the RCAF with essential aircraft maintenance knowledge, preparing their technicians for a wide range of operational missions.'
The RCAF has received 15 CH-147F Chinooks from Boeing over the past two years, with the final delivery taking place in June 2014, completing the MHLH order ahead of schedule. Boeing's support and training are additional essential elements of the MHLH programme.
