CAE will support the New Zealand Defence Force’s (NZDF’s) SH-2G(I) Super Seasprite helicopter synthetic training devices under a new contract announced on 21 October.

The contract will see CAE carry out updates and obsolescence management to an existing SH-2G(I) Full Mission Flight Simulator (FMFS) and SH-2G(I) Part Task Trainer (PTT) that the NZDF is acquiring as part of a comprehensive acquisition of ten SH-2G(I) helicopters from Kaman Corporation.

The simulator update will include updates to the host computer, sensor systems, tactical environment and the instructor operator station; and the addition of the latest generation CAE Medallion-6000 image generator and the common database (CDB) architecture.

The SH-2G(I) synthetic training devices will be delivered to Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Base Auckland from Kaman in 2015. Following this, CAE will provide on-site training support and maintenance services through 2030.

Peter Redman, vice president and general manager, CAE Oceania, said: ’We are pleased to extend our relationship with the NZDF following contracts earlier this year in support of New Zealand’s T-6C Pilot Training programme and the establishment of CAE New Zealand Pty Ltd.

’The entire CAE team is committed to the on-time delivery of world-class ground-based training systems and support services as we strive to become the partner of choice in New Zealand for simulation and training.’
