Bucharest sends Pumas to Mali

In Q2/Q3 of 2019, a small contingent of Romanian Air Force aircraft, comprising IAR 330L Puma SAR helicopters, will be sent to Mali in order to assist the UN’s MINUSMA force in the East African country.

The Romanian contingent will replace the Canadian Air Task Force, which provides assistance to the UN’s Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) force out of northern Mali since August 2018.

Canadian soldiers will be withdrawn by 31st July 2019. However, it will not be until August when the Romanian detachment arrives to take up the challenge.
