Brazilian Army extends Cougars’ life

The Brazilian Army is extending the life of two additional HM-3 Cougar medium multirole helicopters following an amendment contract to Helibras, the Brazilian helicopter manufacturer.

The contract ordered by the Logistical Command and Army Aviation Materiel Directorate will deliver G-type inspection work for two more helicopters fielded by the army aviation. The Cougar’s local designation is AS532 UE Cougar Mk 1.

The work will be completed in November 2017, the army told Shephard. The G-type inspection work, also known as a heavy maintenance visit is executed every 12 years or at 7,500 flight hours. It is aimed to
