Brazil and Turkey bolster defence ties

Brazil and Turkey have agreed to strengthen defence cooperation through the creation of five workgroups that will enhance and promote bilateral defence projects.

The establishment of the groups, which will study partnerships in the naval, aeronautics, space, C2 and cyber fields, was announced on 22 August after meetings between Brazilian Minister of Defence Celso Amorim and the Turkish Minister of Defence Ismet Yilmaz in Ankara.

‘The groups will consist of civil and military representatives of both governments, and should also count on the participation of defence manufacturers from both countries,’ a statement of the Brazilian MoD said.
