Boeing is putting forward three options for the relaunched US VXX Presidential Helicopter competition.

The company is pushing the CH-47 Chinook, the licence-built AW101 (being dubbed the Boeing 101) and, jointly with Bell, the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor.

All three are going up against the Sikorsky and Lockheed Martin VH-92 version of the S-92.

Mark Ballew, Senior Business Development Manager for Tandem Rotorcraft at Boeing, told journalists in Washington DC that the decision to offer the AW101 for the VXX competition had been taken at relatively short notice.

'This is a very competitive offer,' Ballew added.
