Boeing opens new V-22 facility
Boeing has invested in a facility outside Philadelphia to support its V-22 and MV-22 programmes.
The 350,000 square foot site has been transformed into a modern facility where V-22 fuselages will be built for the US Navy, Air Force, Marines and international customers.
It will also be home to the Common Configuration – Readiness and Modernization (CC-RAM) programme, that standardises the US Marine Corps' Osprey fleet by upgrading previously built aircraft to the new Block C configuration.
David Koopersmith, vice president and general manager, Boeing Vertical Lift, said: ‘Boeing’s $115 million investment supports US and international demand for the unrivalled capabilities of the V-22. We started this project two years ago in a mothballed building. Now, it is a state-of-the-art manufacturing centre for the only in-service tiltrotor aircraft in the world.’
