Boeing awarded South Korean Apache contract

Boeing has been formally awarded a contract for 36 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters for South Korea, following the aircraft’s selection by Seoul in April.

On 23 August, the US Department of Defense announced the award of a multi-year contract with a ‘cumulative maximum value’ of $900 million, which includes the 36 aircraft, logistical support, spares and one Longbow crew trainer.

Competing against Bell’s AH-1Z Cobra and TAI’s T-129B for South Korea’s AH-X heavy attack helicopter programme, the Apache was selected as the winner in April, with the country’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) noting at the time that the contract
