Bell announces 407GXP, 407GT sales
The first Bell 407GXP helicopter has been sold in Panama and is scheduled to be delivered in July 2015 for corporate and VIP transport to Urban Development Group (UDG), Bell Helicopter announced on 27 May.
The new Bell 407GXP helicopter is based on the Bell 407GX platform, but with updates that add 50lbs of payload capacity, a new M250 Rolls-Royce engine with improved performance and fuel efficiency, and new avionics features such as hover performance calculator improvement.
Jay Ortiz, vice president for Latin American sales, Bell Helicopter, said: 'We look forward to continuing our relationship with UDG and delivering the first Bell 407GXP into Panama. We believe the proven capabilities of this aircraft will continue to attract operators throughout the region.'
Bell Helicopter also announced the sale and delivery of a Bell 407GT, the armed version of the Bell 407GX, to BBM for operation in the Middle East and Africa. The helicopter will perform various missions, including homeland security and law enforcement. BBM purchased 16 Bell 407GXs earlier in 2015 and also signed a letter of intent for a Bell 525 and Bell 505 helicopter.
Steve Suttles, vice president and managing director of sales in the Middle East and Africa, Bell Helicopter, said: 'The Middle East is a huge market for the Bell 407GT and we see this aircraft really growing in the region. BBM Inc's aircraft is set to go into service later this year, and we are excited for the region to be able to witness the missions this aircraft is capable of completing.'
The armed Bell 407GT is qualified for various weapons, including light and laser-guided munitions. It features a Garmin G1000HTM flight deck, multi-sensor camera system, weapons management system, universal weapons pylons, tactical radio suite and target sight system. It has sliding doors and high-visibility windows for the cabin and cockpit.
