Belarus orders 12 Mi-8MTV-5 helicopters
Russian Helicopters signed a contract to deliver 12 Mi-8MTV-5 military transport helicopters to the Belarus Department of Defence at the Army-2015 forum on 16 June. The helicopters will be delivered in 2016-2017.
Russian Helicopters company Kazan Helicopters will produce the Mi-8MTV-5 helicopters, which are designed to carry out military as well as transport operations.
The contract will be carried out as per the agreement between Russia and Belarus over military technical cooperation, signed in 2009. Accordingly, Belarus will receive helicopters in the same configuration used by the Russian armed forces.
Alexander Mikheev, CEO, Russian Helicopters, said: 'The Republic of Belarus is an important partner for Russia in military technical cooperation. Mi-8MTV-5 helicopters help enhance the Union State's defences and expand its military capability. The signing of this contract is another step toward strengthening the friendship and business relations between our two countries.'
