Becker Avionics' Digital Warning Tone Generator WTG900 takes into skies during maiden flight of CH-53GA medium transport helicopter
Becker Avionics has announced that its digital Warning Tone Generator WTG900 took into skies during the maiden flight of the German Armed Forces CH-53GA medium-lift military transport helicopter.
The digital WTG900 manages all the warning tone requirements of the CH-53GA and is qualified according to MIL-STD-810E, MIL-HDBK-217F N2, DO-178B, DO-160C and EN 2282.
The system is based on a redundant design and achieves the highest level of reliability and availability. Its flexible design allows the generation of every desired voice warning as they are recorded in memory efficient MP3 format and uploaded into the equipment.
Otto Bommer, Vice President of Product Development at Becker Avionics, stated, 'The WTG900 is top-notch when it comes to available warning tone generators on the market. The unit has been selected for the CH-53GA, as well as for the MRH90 and is targeted for aircraft platforms, such as the CH-53K, S-92, NH90, KC-390, C-130, just to name a few, where the operation requires a high-end warning tone generator for the safety of the crew and operation.'
The CH-53GA improvement package that fundamentally renews the avionics equipment of the aircraft is being implemented by Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH on 40 of the 80 CH-53Gs of the German Army fleet. The product improvement program ensures that the CH-53 helicopters remain suited for the expanding range of missions carried out by the German Armed Forces.
Production work on the CH-53GA is scheduled to start at the Eurocopter plant, in Donauwoerth, Germany plant in 2011 and continue through 2013. The first CH-53GA helicopters will be made available to the German Army before the end of 2011.
