Bangladesh receives first AW119Kx trainer

In late October the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) received the first of two AW119Kx rotorcraft on order from Leonardo Helicopters.

Befitting their training role, the helicopter was delivered in a predominantly white-and-red paint scheme and bore the number ‘136’. The BAF currently uses six Bell 206L helicopters as training platforms.

The new AW119Kx will be operated by Squadron 18 that is based at BAF Base Matiur Rahman in Jessore. It is one of three squadrons belonging to the Air Force Academy.

Bangladesh’s new helicopters feature a full glass cockpit in the form of the Garmin G1000HTM.
