Bangladesh buys seven Mi-171s

Russian Helicopters is supplying seven Mil Mi-171 helicopters to Bangladesh’s military under the terms of a US$1 billion loan agreed in 2013, it has emerged.

First deputy CEO of Rosoboronexport, Ivan Goncharenko, announced the earlier sale just ahead of the MAKS air show near Moscow.

‘A contract was signed in April 2015 on the delivery of six Mi-171Sh military and transport helicopters, and also one Mi-171E transport helicopter in its Salon option,' he confirmed to the TASS news agency.

Neither party stated what armaments will equip Bangladesh’s Mi-171 helicopters. However, typical weaponry available includes 7.62mm machine guns, S-8 unguided rockets
