BAE Systems' CAGE for UK AW159 Wildcats
BAE Systems has won a contract from the UK Ministry of Defence for equipping AW159 Wildcat helicopters with a bespoke Combined Arms Gateway Environment (CAGE) system, the company said on 13 February.
The CAGE bespoke mission planning system will be installed in Wildcat helicopters for Royal Navy and Army Air Corps pilots. The contract is valued at around £3.2 million.
BAE developed the CAGE system for use on multiple platforms to plan, brief, rehearse, execute and debrief a mission with the help of the latest situational awareness and planning support information. It allows aircrew to be more reactive and make informed decisions in the air.
The Wildcat is the second UK aircraft to be fitted with the CAGE system. The system has also been equipped on the navy's Merlin II helicopter. The system will also be developed on other aircraft in the UK's helicopter fleet.
CAGE is scheduled to begin frontline service on Wildcats from the middle of February 2015.
