AW119Kx for Portuguese Air Force
Leonardo’s AW119Kx helicopter has been selected by the Portuguese Ministry of Defence for the Portuguese Air Force, the company announced on 18 October.
The company will deliver five helicopters under the €20 million deal between late 2018-early 2020. The order includes options for a further two aircraft.
The helicopters will be deployed in a range of missions, including training, MEDEVAC, troop transport and short range maritime search and rescue, and potentially also firefighting.
The AW119Kx is equipped with an advanced avionics system for enhanced situational awareness, mission effectiveness and safety. The aircraft can accommodate up to six passengers, and has redundancy of all critical systems for enhanced safety and reliability.
