Autoflug joins Sikorsky's STH team
Autoflug has joined Sikorsky's team for Germany’s heavy transport helicopter (STH) competition, the company announced on 6 March.
The companies have signed a letter of intent to work together, adding Autoflug’s equipment portfolio to Sikorsky’s CH-53K helicopter-based bid for the programme.
The CH-53K heavy-lift transport helicopter is competing to be the successor to Sikorsky’s CH-53 GS/GA, which is currently in service with the German armed forces.
Autoflug is already developing safety seats for the current German fleet to improve crash safety for its remaining service life. Its seating systems have a low weight and are quick to fit and remove, and provide the occupant with maximum freedom of movement.
If the requirements remain the same or similar for the successor aircraft, Autoflug may adapt for a configuration of up to 48 troop seats in the CH-53K, with minimal development effort.
