Australian DSTO, AGAP form strategic alliance
The Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and Airbus Group Australia Pacific (AGAP) have formed a new strategic alliance, as announced by the DSTO on 25 February.
This alliance will see the DSTO and AGAP work together on various research and development projects related to aerospace defence technologies. More specifically, it will see the two collaborate to research and develop defence aircraft systems and communications, including helicopters.
The initial focus of the alliance will be to maximise the capability of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) aerospace fleets through their service life and improve their communications capability.
Alex Zelinsky, chief defence scientist, DSTO, said: 'Our collaboration with Airbus Group will ensure the highest levels of support for the ADF’s future aerospace systems.'
Jens Goennemann, managing director, AGAP, said: 'I’m delighted to formalise our relationship with the world-respected DSTO. Airbus Group has been good friends and business partners with DSTO for a long time and this strategic alliance can only enhance that successful relationship.
'Combining Airbus Group’s aerospace expertise with DSTO’s scientific innovation will lead to increased Australian defence capabilities in the future.'
