AUSA Winter 2010: Heavy lift initial focus for new army aviation brigade

The US Army is focusing on heavy lift helicopters first as it moves to stand up a 13th combat aviation brigade (CAB), according to its senior leadership.

Speaking to reporters at the AUSA Winter exhibition in Fort Lauderdale, Lieutenant General Robert Lennox, US Army Deputy Chief of Staff G-8, said while the new 12th CAB was being formed by existing assets, the creation of the 13th would require a number of new build aircraft.
