AUSA 2019: Raider X takes to the stage

Sikorsky has officially confirmed that it is offering an enlarged variant of the in-development co-axial S-97 Raider for the US Army’s Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) programme.

Known as Raider X, the new design is mainly distinguished by a 2,000lb (907kg) increase in weight compared to the S-97, a more powerful engine courtesy of General Electric’s T901 engine, currently being manufactured for FVL helicopters, as well as a larger fuselage.
