AUSA 2017: Next-generation sensors ordered for Apache

Lockheed Martin has a secured a $337 million deal to supply Apache modernised target acquisition designation sight/pilot night vision (M-TADS/PNVS) sensor systems to the US, UK and Saudi Arabia.

The system is coined as the ‘eyes of the Apache’ and provides pilots with long range and precision engagement for enhanced safety during challenging flight environments.

The sensor provides high resolution, high definition, near-infrared and colour imagery on the cockpit displays. M-DSA also provides a new laser pointer marker. In addition, it will allow crews to identify targets at further distances.

The multi-million-dollar order is part of a new indefinite delivery/quantity
