AUSA 2014: Apache E exceed op readiness levels

The performance of the Apache AH-64E model has exceeded expectations on operations in Afghanistan.

Speaking at the AUSA Annual exhibition in Washington DC Colonel Jeff Hager, US Army program manager for the Apache said the E model attack helicopters (also known as AH-64D block III), which were deployed as part of the 1/229th have done ‘an exceptionally superior job’.

He said that the 1/229th AH-64Es ‘have exceeded the [targeted] operational readiness rates the whole time that they have been deployed.’

The system currently has more than 4.4 million combined flight hours for both Delta and Echo fleets, with 23,000
