AUSA 2013: Night Stalkers order hostile fire warning system

The US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) plans to award a contract to Raytheon-BBN Corporation for an undisclosed number of Boomerang Air acoustic hostile fire indicator (A-HFI) systems, it has emerged.

A pre-solicitation notice issued on 1 October revealed that the Technology Applications Contracting Office (TAKO) will award a contract to the company for full rate production of the A-HFI system as well as spare and deployment support packages.

The A-HFI systems will be integrated with current 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) helicopters, such as the MH/AH-6M, MH-47G and MH-60M, to operate alongside the existing Advanced Aircraft Survivability
