AUSA 2011: AVX bullish about the future

AVX Aircraft has received a shot in the arm with government funding to further study its compound coaxial helicopter design under the umbrella of the Joint Multi Role (JMR) project.

Speaking at the AUSA exhibition in Washington DC on 10 October, company officials said that perhaps more important than the funding itself was the DoD’s ‘acceptance of the potential of the design’.

AVX announced its involvement in the JMR programme at the end of September following the award of a $4 million ‘configuration trades analysis’ (CTA) contract to further study its coaxial, dual ducted fan configuration.
