Airbus Helis wins H145M services
Airbus Helicopters has won a full-service contract from the German armed forces for the H145M helicopter, due to enter service with the German Air Force later in 2015.
The seven-year co-operative support and services agreement covers the availability, reliability and readiness of the 15 H145M helicopters currently on order for the German Air Force. Airbus Helicopters will manage and conduct maintenance and repair operations, supply materials and maintain the airworthiness of the helicopter fleet.
A dedicated team from Airbus Helicopters will be located at Laupheim air base in Baden-Württemberg, South Germany.
Klaus Przemeck, head of the German military support centre, Airbus Helicopters, said: 'We are committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive coverage in this first full-service contract for the new H145M.
'It will build on our track record of successful support for the EC135s used to train its pilots at the German Army Aviation School in Bueckeburg, where the fleet’s operational availability is at over 90%.'
The H145M is a twin-engine multi-role helicopter based on the H145 aircraft by Airbus Helicopters. It is suitable for search and rescue, fire support, transportation, reconnaissance and personnel evacuation operations. On-time certification for the helicopter was completed in May, enabling military qualification in the summer.
Initial deliveries to Germany are expected to begin before the end of 2015. The fleet will be operated by the German Special Forces Command.
The H145M can be equipped with a pintle-mounted door gun, electro optical/infrared sensors with targeting capability, weapons on external stores, and military avionics for communications, navigation and flight management. It features self-sealing fuel tanks, ballistic protection and electronic warfare missile protection.
