AgustaWestland expands US MRO services
AgustaWestland's Philadelphia facility has been expanded to include transmission testing stand capabilities, as announced by AgustaWestland on 17 February.
With this expansion, full maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for intermediate and tail rotor gearboxes has been made available to the company's customers in the Americas.
AgustaWestland collaborated with RedViking to design and install a multi-model intermediate and tail rotor gearbox test system in the facility. The modular design of this system allows multiple test articles to be run on a single test stand. This lowers life cycle costs, provides greater efficiency and flexibility, and reduces overhaul time.
The test stand can accommodate intermediate and tail rotor gearboxes installed on AgustaWestland aircraft in operation throughout the Americas, including the AW109 and AW119 series, AW139s and AW189s, along with the AW169s later on.
