ADEX 2017: Leonardo lauds AW159 and Seaspray

Leonardo was praising the capabilities of its Seaspray 7000-series radar at Seoul ADEX 2017 as the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) prepares to release an RfP for a second batch of naval helicopters, perhaps by the end of the year.

The Seaspray 7350 active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar is already fitted on eight AW159 helicopters operated by the ROKN, all of which were operational by midyear.

South Korea is the first export customer for this helicopter type and Geoff Russell, media relations manager at Leonardo Helicopters, believes his company has a strong chance of scooping a contract for
