AAR to provide logistics services for T64 engine upgrade
AAR Defense Systems & Logistics (DS&L) has been awarded a logistics contract from Bell Helicopter Textron in support of upgrading T64 engines for the Bell V-280 Valor demonstrator aircraft.
The two-year contract, which was announced by AAR on 22 April, will see it provide warehouse and logistics services for the engine upgrade programme.
The Bell V-280 Valor is a third-generation tilt-rotor aircraft that is part of the US Army's Future Vertical Lift (FVL) programme. It was selected for the Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator (JMR-TD) phase as a precursor for FVL. Bell expects to use a version of the future affordable turbine engine in the production version of the V-280.
Terry Comer, programme manager, DS&L, AAR, said: 'We are pleased that Bell Helicopter has the confidence in AAR DS&L to support this important engine upgrade.
'Our well-established presence in the area and our experience with the T64 and streamlining logistics expertise contributed to winning this contract.'
