Leonardo in frame for Bangladesh ASW helicopter order

The Bangladesh Navy (BN) has launched a hunt for two anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters in the 2017 financial year. The desired platform must be a proven maritime helicopter in service with at least two navies.

According to the tender document issued by the Directorate General of Defence Purchase (DGDP), the helicopters will be additionally designed to undertake anti-surface warfare (ASuW), over-the-horizon targeting, maritime search and rescue, medical evacuation, casualty evacuation and special forces missions.

They will be used aboard BNS Bangabandhu, which uses a MacTaggart Scott handling system, and they must fit the guided missile frigate’s hangar dimensions. Built
