Airbus weighs up dropping Romanian investment plans

Manufacturer Airbus could decide to put a hold on investment plans in Romania, following the Bucharest government’s failure to make good on an order for more than a dozen H215M multipurpose helicopters.

Such indecision has stopped local production of the aircraft commencing, with reports suggesting the airframer will have to withhold its major investments or even change its business model in Romania.

The reason for this significant shift in strategy is the inability of the country’s government to continue with its original rotary procurement plans, which included a deal for several dozen H215M models.
