UAE orders more GlobalEye aircraft
Saab on 4 January announced it has received a $1.02 billion follow-on contract from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for two GlobalEye AEW&C aircraft.
Work will be carried out at five sites in Sweden (Gothenburg, Linköping, Arboga, Järfälla and Luleå) as well as at Centurion in South Africa.
Deliveries will be completed by 2025.
‘The GlobalEye programme is running according to plan and we have an efficient cooperation with the customer,’ said Saab president and CEO Micael Johansson.
GlobalEye provides simultaneous air, maritime and ground surveillance, by combining sophisticated radar technology with the ultra-long range Global 6000 aircraft from Bombardier.
The UAE originally ordered two GlobalEye aircraft from Saab in 2015, followed by one more in 2017.
The first aircraft was delivered to UAE Air Force in April 2020.
