Secretive Chinese air-launched ballistic missile is spotted
It has been known for some time that China is developing an air-launched ballistic missile (ALBM). Indeed, the Pentagon has mentioned it in documents such as the Missile Defense Review, but a video emerged on Weibo on 17 October showing an H-6N bomber carrying such a missile.
What adds to the interest is that this weapon carried by a People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) bomber featured a hypersonic warhead. Indeed, the missile’s warhead with booster section is similar to that of the DF-17 hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) unveiled at a parade in Beijing a year ago.
