Raytheon Technologies subsidiary Pratt & Whitney is offering its F100-PW-229 engine to power the USAF F-15EX in the Lot 2 to Lot 9 procurement schedule.
‘The F100 engine has powered every operational F-15 in the USAF fleet since its first flight in 1972,’ Pratt & Whitney announced on 7 April, adding that the engine has logged more than 28 million flight hours worldwide with 23 air forces.
The USAF issued an RfP in February 2021 for procurement of up to 461 F-15EX engines in an open tender.
Shephard Defence Insight notes that the F100-PW-229 already powers the F-15E Strike Eagle and several F-16 variants.
