Exclusive: Germany ventures deeper into aircraft jamming capabilities within luWES programme

Germany's luWES programme has advanced with investigations into incorporating jamming capabilities into various aircraft types, including business jets, UAVs and other platforms.

Germany's exploration of jamming capabilities within its luWES (Airborne Effects in the Electromagnetic Spectrum) programme has signalled a significant departure from traditional electronic warfare (EW) tactics, with a keen eye on equipping business jets and other platforms for advanced EW operations, a spokesperson for the Bundeswehr’s equipment office said. 

The German Air Force announced it was moving ahead with luWES Suppression/Destruction of Enemy Air Defence (S/DEAD) Concept of Operations last summer, but studies on the luWES concept began over five years ago.
