Egypt and Jordan to receive Sidewinder motors
FMS customers will receive a combined total of more than 800 rocket motors for the AIM-9M Sidewinder short-range AAM, under a $21.01 million contract for Northrop Grumman.
The company will produce and deliver 788 AIM-9M Mk 36 Mod 11 rocket motors for Egypt and 43 for Jordan.
US Naval Air Systems Command awarded the FMS contract, work on which will be completed by February 2023.
Shephard Defence Insight calculates that Egypt already has 2,038 AIM-9 missiles in its inventory, with an estimated out-of-service date of 2026.
