Boeing supports Lancers and Stratofortresses
The US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, has awarded OEM Boeing a $400 million contract modification to carry out recurring and non-recurring engineering services on B-1B Lancer (pictured) and B-52H Stratofortress bombers.
Work will be performed at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma; Edwards AFB, California; Barksdale AFB, Louisiana; and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is expected to be completed on 31 December 2022.
According to Shephard Defence Insight, 76 B-52s remain in USAF service out of the 104 originally ordered. A total of 100 B-1Bs were ordered in the 1980s, 60 of which are still operational.
