LAAD 2013: Chile opts for Israeli UAV

The Chilean Army has purchased SpyLite mini-UAV systems from Israeli company BlueBird Aero Systems, the company has revealed.

BlueBird Aero Systems CEO Ronen Nadir told Shephard that Chile had bought ‘a number’ of SpyLites systems, each consisting of three UAVs, a ground control station and associated equipment. The contract follows an award by USSOCOM in 2007 and fielding by the Israeli Defence Force and private security customers in India and Spain. 

‘With the performance and price compared to other solutions, the value of the SpyLite is the only conclusion people can draw,’ Nadir argued.
