China restricts UAV tech exports

China is implementing a second round of regulations to restrict the export of UAV technology, according to a joint announcement by the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs.

The latest rules, which will be enacted on 15 August, apply to UAVs at the higher-performance end of the spectrum, rather than the many consumer craft sold by companies like DJI. The rationale given was to protect national security.
